Boat Airdopes 441 Pro review

Boat wireless earbuds have gained so much popularity in India due to their affordable price. One of their most popular True Wireless Earbuds (TWS) is the Boat Airdopes 441 Pro.

Boat Airdopes 441 Pro is priced at Rs. 2,999. During the sale, you can easily get them for as low as Rs. 1,800. At this price point, is the boAt 441 Pro worth buying? Let’s find out in this in-depth review.

Product Overview

Boat Airdopes 441 Pro, the upgraded version of the Airdopes 441, boasts Bluetooth v5.0 connectivity and offers instant pairing with devices. Each earbud integrates a 6mm driver, and it’s IPX7 sweat and water-resistant.

Sound Quality

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Airdopes 441 Pro are budget-friendly earbuds, and they sound like it. If you like loud music with bass, then they are excellent; in fact, they are better than some mid-range earbuds. However, if you prefer soft soulful music, then they are terrible.

It seems these earbuds prioritize loudness over voice clarity. You may not notice when you are listening to fast-paced rap music, but you will spot the difference when you hear slow romantic Bollywood songs.

Overall, the sound quality is mixed; it will depend on your listening preferences. For a gym rat who likes loud music, pumping in his/her ear will definitely enjoy it, while someone who is out for a chill walk in the evening while listening to Arijit Singh’s romantic playlist may not enjoy the experience too much.

Noise Cancellation or Isolation

Rating: 3 out of 5.

The Boat Airdopes 441 Pro does not come with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. Instead, it relies on passive noise isolation, which is achieved through the earbuds’ design and the seal they create in your ears.

Passive noise isolation doesn’t actively cancel out low-frequency noises as effectively as active noise cancellation found in some higher-end earbuds or headphones.

The Boat Airdopes 441 Pro does not come with active noise cancellation (ANC) technology. Instead, it relies on passive noise isolation, which is achieved through the earbuds’ design and the seal they create in your ears.

Passive noise isolation works by physically blocking out external noise due to the earbuds’ fit and the seal they create in your ear canal. This can be effective to a certain extent in reducing ambient noise, especially in quieter environments or when playing music at moderate volumes.

However, passive noise isolation doesn’t actively cancel out low-frequency noises as effectively as active noise cancellation (ANC) found in some higher-end earbuds or headphones. ANC uses microphones to detect ambient noise and then generates sound waves that actively cancel out that noise.

So, while the Boat Airdopes 441 Pro doesn’t feature active noise cancellation, its passive noise isolation does help in reducing external noise to a certain degree, providing a more immersive listening experience in relatively quieter environments.

Mic and Call Quality

Rating: 2 out of 5.

Call Quality has to be one of the worst things about the Airdopes 441 Pro. They are equipped with built-in microphones that allow you to make and receive calls hands-free. However, with slight environmental noise or a little bit of wind, the microphones will start struggling to pick up your voice clearly, and another person will hear lots of background noise.

I had so many incidents where I was in a public space and had to switch to a phone speaker from the buds because the person on the other side couldn’t hear a thing that I was saying.

So, if you are planning to use them for calling purposes, then I would say go for something a little more expensive. Not just Airdopes 441 Pro but almost all wireless earbuds in this price range struggle with call quality.

if you want to use the mic for voice chat during gaming in a quiet place, like inside the house, then the mic won’t give you much trouble.

Design and Build Quality

Rating: 4 out of 5.

The Airdopes 441 Pro features a contemporary and ergonomic design. The earbuds have a semi-ear fit, which provides a secure grip in the ear. This design choice not only ensures a snug fit but also helps in passive noise isolation.

The earbuds come in a compact and lightweight form factor, making them convenient for everyday use. They have a stylish and minimalistic appearance, often available in a range of colors, catering to different aesthetic preferences. For example, the one that I am reviewing is a Batman limited edition in red.

These earbuds have an IPX7 water resistance rating, making them highly resilient against sweat, splashes, and even brief immersion in water. So you can use them for workouts or outdoor activities without worrying too much.

The construction of the earbuds and the charging case feels sturdy, and it’s capable of enduring daily wear and tear. However, you will start seeing some print fade after a few months. It isn’t that big of a deal and happens with almost every earbud in this range. You can get designer skin, which will protect them as well as make them look stylish.

Comfort and Fit

Rating: 2 out of 5.

The comfort of earbuds might be different for everyone because we have different ear sizes. Boat Airdopes 441 Pro does come with changeable ear tips, so you can find perfect comfort for yourself.

Initially, buds are comfortable to wear, and you won’t even notice wearing them. However, after 15-20 minutes, my ear started to pain. I tried all the possible ear tips to check if it was because of them. However, the ear pain didn’t go away with any of them.

The reason I think it’s uncomfortable to wear is that they are slightly bigger, and honestly, they also feel a little bulky compared to some of the other earbuds I have tried in the past.

If you are someone like me who spends hours in the Gym working out, then I would say look somewhere else because these are not comfortable for long music sessions.

Battery Life and Charging

Rating: 5 out of 5.

The battery life of the Boat Airdopes 441 Pro is beyond my expectations. It will easily handle long music listening sessions(strictly speaking, about battery life, not comfort-wise).

Earbuds

The longest I have gone without removing the earbuds is 3 hours without removing the earbuds. Yes, I had to endure lots of pain, but it did confirm that Boat Airdopes 441 Pro has crazy good battery life. I think 3 hours is more than enough for a person for single use of the buds.

Case

The battery life of the case completely blew my mind. You see, in the past, wireless earbuds have lasted for about a week before I had to charge the case. However, Boat Airdopes 441 Pro lasted over a month, and that too with about 1 hour plus average usage time every day!

I thought it might be just because they are new. So, I decided to test them again. To my surprise, the same thing happened after the second charge; it once again lasted over a month before needing to be recharged.

Charging

Boat Airdopes 441 Pro does offer Type-C fast charging, but it’s not that quick. It takes much longer to charge them compared to other earbuds, which support fast charging.

However, when you take the huge battery life into account, you only need to charge them once every month or maybe even two months in some cases. So, it really won’t matter much.

Connectivity

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

The Airdopes 441 Pro utilizes Bluetooth version 5.0, which offers a range of up to 10m. Connection is very solid at close range; however, once you move a little further(still within a 10m range), you will start experiencing some jitters, especially if there is a wall in between your device and earbuds.

These earbuds are compatible with Android, iOS, and Windows devices. They do work with all three types without any issues.

Occasionally, one side of the earbuds randomly stops working. You can fix that by tapping for 3s on both earbuds. Unfortunately, this happens quite often, and it’s really annoying.

Controls

Rating: 2 out of 5.

The Airdopes 441 Pro features touch-sensitive controls on both earbuds, allowing you to navigate various functions

Tapping or pressing on the surface of the earbuds allows for easy control over playback (play/pause), skipping tracks, adjusting volume, and answering or ending calls.

Additionally, these touch controls also enable access to voice assistants, allowing you to trigger Siri or Google Assistant.

My personal experience with the touch control was extremely unpleasant. One tap play/ pause was a double tap on the right to move to the next song and a double tap on the left to the previous song.

Most of the time, double-tap doesn’t work properly, and it reads as one tap and pause song, which creates a really bad user experience. I have small fingertips, and this happened to me. If you have big fingers, then this is going to be an absolute nightmare for you.

Overall, the touch control experience isn’t that good, and there are lots of misreads; however, this is expected for a budget. If you want a better touch control experience, then you need to go with Oneplus Buds 3. You might find them at almost the same price, but they offer much better touch controls compared to these.

Features

Airdopes 441 Pro comes with the Insta Wake N’ Pair function, which is a fancy name for quick pairing. It does work as it is supposed to. Aside from that, they have an App called “Boat Hearables” for firmware updates and some customization.

Price and Value for Money

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

At just Rs. 1,800, Boat Airdopes 441 Pro offers a lot of value. It provides decent sound quality, great battery life, and good looks and connectivity. On the other hand, if you spend just a little more, you can get much better wireless earbuds with greater comfort and touch controls.

Should you buy Boat Airdopes 441 Pro?

Well, if you are considering them buying at the regular price of Rs. 3000, then definitely no. With offers and discounts, you can get Oneplus Buds 3 at around Rs. 3999.

For the increased price tag, the OnePlus Buds 3 offer far better design, sound quality, touch controls, and, more importantly, long-lasting comfort with a lightweight design.

If you are on a strict budget where you absolutely can’t go above Rs. 2,000 and find Boat Airdopes 441 Pro at Rs. 1,800, then you can consider them.

My final advice would be, instead of buying these, save up some money and go for more premium wireless earbuds with a Rs. 4000 price tag. They will offer you a premium experience.

Wireless earbuds are something that you are going to use daily, so it might not be a bad idea to spend a little bit extra on them.

That’s it for this review. I hope I was able to guide you in the right direction in your decision to buy a Boat Airdopes 441 Pro. Let me know in the comments if you have any questions about them, and I will be happy to answer them.
