Rok Narses Talent Tree Build and Pairings Guide

Narses is an epic Engineering (Siege) commander in the Rise of Kingdoms. he was launched along with another epic engineering commander Catherine de’ Medici. He is available for free in the game.

Is the expertise Narses worth using and can he be any good as other Engineering commanders? In this guide you will find Narses’s talent tree builds, best commander pairings, formations, and pretty much anything you need to know

What is Commander Narses good at?

Narses is not considered a game-changer in Rise of Kingdoms. He specializes in ranged combat but does not stand out significantly in terms of raw power or utility compared to other epic or legendary commanders.

His skills include reducing the target’s march speed and providing ranged direct damage, which can be situationally useful but not overwhelmingly impactful.

Narses gains some attack boosts for his troops when dealing ranged damage, which can stack, offering a decent but not exceptional benefit.

Narses Skill Overview

All-knowing(Active Skill)

Required Rage: 1000

Narses’s Active skill deals 600 direct damage and reduce target attack by 10% for 3 seconds when the enemy march is away.

It deals 1000 direct damage when the enemy march is in melee range reduce enemy march speed by 10% for 3s

600 damage factor is way too low; it would have been better if this skill was the other way around, 1000 damage factor for ranged and 600 for melee.

Now the March speed debuff is far more powerful than you think.

For example, if you have 10-15 narses marches near the big openfield fights, you can create a sort of barrier for your enemies.

These marches will constantly deliver 10% march speed reduction to enemies from a distance. This is not just a theory; we have actually seen different kingdoms using this strategy during dark alter fights.

Wheeler Dealer (2nd skill)

This is a pretty straightforward skill; your troops get 25% siege defense but also lose 5% siege attack.

Western Wall of the Empire (3rd skill)

This skill gives your troop 40 rage upon using an active skill in ranged mode as well as does 250-factor healing.

The rage generation is nice; it will allow you to quickly cast his skills and apply debuffs to the enemies. However, the healing factor is too small to make any noticeable difference.

Ambition is Divine (4th skill)

Whenever his troops deal ranged direct damage, they get a 5% attack boost for 10 seconds. This can stack up to 4 times. This means you can have up to 20% more attacks for 10 seconds.

This is a nice little boost for damage output and a great skill considering he is an epic commander.

Conqueror of the Sunset (expertise) – boosted 3rd skill

His expertise skill boosts his 3rd skill, Western Wall of the Empire. Instead of 40 rage, now he gains 60 rage, and the healing factor has also increased to 400.

Nothing too impressive, just a minor boost to the third skill. It’s so little that the difference wouldn’t even be noticeable.

Is Narses worth Investing in?

Narses is an epic commander, meaning you can obtain him easily from a tavern using silver and gold keys. So, you don’t really need to think about investing your commander sculptures in him.

Skill upgrade order

5-5-5-5(expertise)

As mentioned already, Narses is an epic commander and his sculptures are quite easily available in the game.

So, there isn’t much to think about his investment order. However, only use him in the Openfield after you have fully unlocked his expertise skill.

Narses Talent Tree builds

The Defense tree on the Narses isn’t that great. So, most likely you will use him as a secondary commander.

However, if you do need to use him as the primary commander due to the unavailability of other commanders, then you can use this talent tree.

Best Talent Tree for Openfield

Narses talent tree rok

Narses doesn’t have huge damage output. His main purpose is to debuff enemies with his active skill. So, you need a faster skill cycle.

Unfortunately, Defense Tree lacks the talent to help you do that. For this talent tree, we have picked the best possible skills available in this scenario.

Narses commander pairings

Narses doesn’t have much synergy with other engineering commanders. However, Here are a few commanders which you can pair with him.

Babur(Primary) – Openfield

babur rise of kingdoms

Babur is the only commander who has a little bit of synergy with Narses.

His active skill gives you 50 rage per second for 3 seconds upon using the active skill. Narses, with his expertise, also gives 60 rage when using the active skill.

This rage regeneration makes the skill cycle small and fires off active skills one after another.

Narses’s active skill can apply a crucial march speed debuff on enemies. The small skill cycle ensures that enemies have a constant march speed debuff. So, your allies can capitalize on that debuff.

John Hunyadi (Primary) – Openfield

John Hunyadi Rise of Kingdoms

John Hunyadi has the same synergy as Babur. His expertise and skill also regenerate rage. However, it only regenerates 30 rage. So, He does work with Narses but won’t be as effective as Babur.

Catherine de’ Medici(Secondary) – Openfield

If you are looking for an F2P option to pair with Narses, then Catherine de’ Medici is your only option at the moment.

Aside from him, she is the only epic engineering commander in the game. You can pair them together for a decent tower defense march. It won’t be as good as the legendary pair, but you will still have a usable siege march to hit enemies from the safe zone.

Narses Best Formation

Narses is a ranged commander, so you don’t have any other choice than using a V formation for him. Currently, it’s the only formation available for the ranged commanders.
