Is Scipio Africanus Prime Investing?
Scipio Africanus Prime is an infantry-focused commander. He can be a valuable addition to your roster if you prefer using infantry units in your army and enjoy aggressive, fast-paced gameplay.
He is an extremely versatile commander who can be effective in both Player versus Environment (PvE) and Player versus Player (PvP) scenarios. You can pair him with almost every single infantry commander and he will give you good trades with almost any pairings.
Now you are probably thinking with the release of new legendary commanders like Gorgo and Liu Che, if Scipio Africanus is still worth investing in? And the answer is yes.
While Liu Che with Sargon is doing serious work against a powerful Cavs commander, It still doesn’t make Scipio Prime obsolete. He still is a great infantry commander who can be used for field fighting without any problem. So, you can definitely max him out and it will be totally worth it.

Skill upgrade order
5-1-1-5(expertise)
Scipio Prime is an excellent commander and you should definitely have expertise, especially if you are planning to use him with Guan Yu. More details about that are in the pairing section.
While every single one of his skills is powerful and useful for field fight you should try to get 4th skill first, of course after maxing your active skill.
4th skill reduces skill damage, which is necessary with so many skill-heavy commanders in the game.

What is Commander Scipio Africanus Prime good at?
Legendary Scipio Africanus prime or Legendary Scipio is good at everything. He can be used in any scenario, however, he particularly shines at open-field battles.
His primary skill has lots of direct damage factors which also AOE meaning it will hit multiple targets. It also inflicts a debuff of 30% health reduction.
Scipio Prime gets extra march speed when fighting outside of the alliance territory and during KvK, most of the fighting will occur outside the alliance territories.
His expertise is also intersecting, when the target is silenced he generates rage much faster. This mechanic allows him to fire his skills very quickly.
Overall, He is the total beast of a commander on the open field who also can be paired with lots of other commanders.
Scipio Africanus Prime Talent Tree builds
For the most part, you will be using commanders like Guan Yu and Sargon as primary to Scipio Prime. However, Scipio Prime can be just as effective as the primary commander. Below you will find the best talent tree for him.
Openfield / Overall best

This is the best open-field talent tree build for Scipio Africanus Prime which can also be used in any other situation like canyons and PVE. The Cage of Thorn Talent is a really strong debuff for the open field, the rest of the build focuses on the infantry tree.
You can avoid a cage of Thorn and go all out in infantry but in our experience, this tree has worked the best for open-field fights.
Scipio Africanus Prime commander pairings
Scipio Africanus can be paired with any infantry commander. However, his synergy works better with the following commanders.
Guan Yu (primary) – Best pairing

Guan Yu is probably the best choice for Scipio Prime, synergy between these two is excellent. Scipio Prime does 3 target skill damage, the same thing with Guan Yu. Aside from that both also complement each other’s expertise and skill
Guan Yu’s primary skill silences 3 enemies, and Scipio’s expertise generates rage faster when enemies are silenced. Scipio Prime’s fourth skill generates a shield. Guan Yu’s expertise deals more skill damage when he gets a shield.
In general, Guan Yu is an extremely powerful commander for offense but he heavily lacks defense. That’s where Scipio Prime comes in.
Scipio Prime not only provides defense but also marches speed and high damage output(two things that Guan Yu already has). Together they are a complete march for an open field.
The reason behind, Guan Yu’s primary is because he gets a huge nerf on his active skill if used secondary.
Sargon the Great (primary)

Sargon the Great is one of the standalone commanders. You can pair him with any infantry commander and he will give you good results.
On the other hand, Scipio Prime is also great on its own. Now you pair two of the most powerful commander in the game and it’s total chaos.
As per the synergy, we have no idea how it works. However, there are plenty of whales who are using Sargon as primary with Scipio prime as secondary and achieving great results with them.
Honda Tadakatsu (secondary)

Now you might not think Honda Tadakatsu has a great open field, However, he is a hidden gem that surprisingly works with plenty of as secondary.
Honda has a troop capacity bonus which can boost Scipio Africanus Prime’s direct damage factor. on top of that when he loses troops he can provide lots of skill damage bonuses.
Scipio Prime can use a skill damage boost from Honda and quickly fire skill from rage boost from his own talent tree. These mechanics well tested and trusted by many whales
Mehmed II (Secondary) – best for F2p

If you are not willing to invest in Honda Tadakatsu then there is also an F2P replacement which you can use as secondary to Scipio Africanus Prime.
Mehmad also provides a troop count bonus and skill damage bonus. The best part here is that you can get Mehmad for free by opening gold keys in the tavern.
Alexander the Great (Primary)

Alexander the Great is truly great in the open field. However, with newly released infantry commanders, he has been under shadow.
Alex has everything you need in open field commander. He has buffs, debuffs, march speed as well as the shield factor.
Scipio Prime himself also has the same characteristics as Alexander the Great. Together they can be very tanky pairings which can survive longer on the field at the same time being able to do lots of damage to enemies.
You should use Alexander as the primary because the attack talent tree works better than the support tree on Scipio, however, you can use it the other way around and the results will be almost similar.
Trajan (both)

Scipio Prime is good at doing damage and you may forget that one of his specializations is Support. And the best support commander in the game is Trajan.
Trajan makes enemies take more skill damage and grants additional rage. Scipio Prime does lots of skill damage and at the same time can generate lots of rage with his support talents.
There are two ways to use this pair. The first one is Scipio Prime with all infantry troops. Another one is Trajan primary with mixed troops.
Whichever way you decide to use this march, in the end, it will provide great support to your allies while at the same time having a good amount of damage output for yourself.
Charles Martel / Pakal / Harald Sigurdsson
All three of these commanders are tanky and great at doing normal attack damage. As mentioned before anything that you pair with Legendary Scipio is pure gold. You can certainly use these commanders with Scipio Prime without any problems.
Sun Tzu (secondary)

Sun Tzu isn’t just a great infantry commander but he is the best Epic commander in the game. While Sun Tzu might not be the best pair for Scipio Prime, he can be an epic alternative until you max out other legendary commanders to pair with Legendary Scipio.
