Microsoft has revealed the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition, a commemorative console created to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Xbox brand. The announcement was made during the Xbox Games Showcase 2026, giving us a first look at a special edition system inspired by the original Xbox.
A Design Inspired by the Original Xbox
The Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition features a translucent green design that pays homage to the iconic look associated with the first Xbox console.
The anniversary theme includes several visual callbacks to classic Xbox hardware, including the original Xbox-inspired translucent green shell, a redesigned Xbox logo that echoes the branding used in the early 2000s, and subtle anniversary markings commemorating 25 years of Xbox history.
For many fans, it is a nostalgic collector’s item for longtime fans of the platform. It is a reminder of how far Xbox has come over the past two and a half decades.
No Hardware Upgrades, Same Powerful Performance
Unlike a mid-generation hardware refresh, the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition does not introduce any performance upgrades.
It offers the same hardware and capabilities as the standard Xbox Series X while focusing on celebrating Xbox’s history and legacy over the past 25 years.
Matching Anniversary Controller Announced
Microsoft also announced a matching anniversary-themed controller.
The controller will be sold separately, allowing existing Xbox Series X owners to add the commemorative accessory to their collection without purchasing the console itself.
Release Date, Price, and Pre-Order Details
Microsoft has not yet announced official pricing for the Xbox Series X25 Limited Edition or the Xbox Wireless Controller X25 Special Edition.
The company confirmed that both products will launch in November 2026, but an exact release date has not been revealed.
Pre-orders are also not live at the time of writing, with Microsoft stating that additional details regarding pricing, retailer availability, and pre-order dates will be shared closer to launch.
Given that the standard Xbox Series X currently retails for $649.99 in the United States, industry observers expect the anniversary edition to carry a premium price due to its limited-edition design and collector appeal. However, Microsoft has not provided any official pricing guidance.
If you are interested in securing the console, keep an eye on Microsoft’s official Xbox channels or our site for future pre-order announcements.
Given it’s a limited edition, demand could be high among collectors and longtime Xbox fans.
