Marvel’s Wolverine Will Lead The Showcase

The biggest confirmed game for the event is Marvel’s Wolverine from Insomniac Games.

Sony has already announced that the show will begin with a closer look at the upcoming action-adventure title.

We are expecting extensive gameplay footage, new story details, and potentially a final look at some of Wolverine’s combat systems ahead of launch.

After years of anticipation and limited reveals, this could be the most substantial showcase yet for one of PlayStation’s biggest exclusives.

What Could Be Announced?

While Sony has only officially confirmed Marvel’s Wolverine, several major projects could make an appearance.

Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet

Naughty Dog’s mysterious sci-fi project remains one of PlayStation’s most talked-about upcoming exclusives. After its cinematic reveal, we are hoping to finally see gameplay footage.

Phantom Blade Zero

The stylish action RPG has become one of the most visually impressive upcoming PS5 titles. State of Play would be the perfect stage for a new gameplay trailer or release update.

Untitled John Wick Game

Saber Interactive’s John Wick project generated significant buzz during previous showcases. More gameplay footage could be revealed as development continues.

Physint

Hideo Kojima’s next espionage title remains largely under wraps. While a major reveal may still be some time away, fans continue to speculate that Sony could offer a small teaser during the event.

Third-Party Publishers Could Steal The Show

Recent State of Play broadcasts have featured a mix of first-party and third-party announcements, and June 2026 is expected to follow that trend.

Potential appearances could include Resident Evil projects from Capcom, New Square Enix announcements, Additional updates from Bandai Namco, Surprise indie reveals, and New PS5 console exclusives from partner studios

Sony has increasingly used State of Play to highlight both PlayStation Studios titles and major third-party games.

State of Play Kicks Off A Massive Week For Gaming

The June showcase arrives just days before Summer Game Fest 2026, creating what could be one of the biggest weeks of gaming announcements all year.

Following State of Play, we will also be treated to:

  • Summer Game Fest 2026
  • Xbox Games Showcase
  • PC Gaming Show

  • Day of the Devs

As a result, many publishers may choose to save their biggest reveals for this packed showcase season.

Sony will deliver new first-party reveals, surprise third-party partnerships, or long-awaited gameplay updates. Now, PlayStation fans won’t have to wait much longer to see what the future of PS5 looks like.
