Magic: The Gathering Arena Upcoming Set Release Schedule(Updated)

Big news for Magic: The Gathering (MTG) fans: We pulled together a complete guide to the upcoming set schedule. So you can see what’s dropping, when, and why you should care. It’s a lot of cool crossover sets, plane returns, and we’re gonna break it all down.

Magic: The Gathering has had a seriously stacked couple of years, with Wizards of the Coast mixing traditional Magic releases with major Universes Beyond crossovers.

As of September 3, 2026, The Hobbit, Marvel Super Heroes, Secrets of Strixhaven, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Lorwyn Eclipsed have all been released.

That leaves two upcoming sets in 2026, followed by three officially named Magic Multiverse sets in 2027.

Wizards has also confirmed three additional Universes Beyond sets for 2027, although those have not yet been named.

Here’s everything that has been officially announced so far.

Wizards has confirmed that 2027 will return to a six-set schedule, consisting of three Magic Multiverse sets and three Universes Beyond releases. However, only the three Magic Multiverse sets have been publicly named so far.

Reality Fracture – October 2, 2026

The next major Magic release is Reality Fracture, and this one is a pretty big deal for the game’s ongoing story.

The set arrives on October 2, 2026, taking you into Jace Beleren’s Echoverse, a reality he has created as his vision of a supposedly perfected Multiverse.

In this alternate reality, major events and characters have unfolded differently. The Echoverse is a world without threats such as Nicol Bolas, the Eldrazi, and Phyrexia, but Jace’s attempt to create this “better” reality threatens to overtake the Multiverse players already know.

The Echoverse changes familiar characters

One of the coolest ideas behind the set is the concept of echoed pairs.

Cards will show characters from the normal Multiverse alongside alternate versions from Jace’s Echoverse.

That means you won’t simply be getting completely new characters. You will also see familiar faces reimagined through Jace’s alternate reality.

The set includes echoed versions of planeswalkers and legendary creatures, alongside special Shattered Mirror cards and other alternate treatments.

There’s also a serialized Bloodline Recollector headliner, with only 500 serialized copies being produced.

Reality Fracture release dates

  • Prerelease: September 25-October 1, 2026
  • MTG Arena: September 29, 2026
  • Tabletop: October 2, 2026

So while the physical set doesn’t officially release until October 2, players will get their first chance to play it during prerelease events beginning September 25.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek – November 13, 2026

After Reality Fracture, Magic is heading somewhere very different.

Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek launches on November 13, 2026, bringing 60 years of Star Trek history into the game.

And unlike a crossover focused on a single show, this set pulls from across the entire franchise.

That means you can expect characters, starships and stories spanning different generations of Star Trek.

Wizards has already revealed characters including Captain James T. Kirk, Captain Kathryn Janeway, Worf, Picard, Spock, Sisko and many more.

Star Trek gets its own mechanics

This isn’t simply a collection of Star Trek artwork slapped onto existing Magic cards.

The set introduces several mechanics inspired by the franchise. Assimilate allows you to take control of creatures and turn them into Borg artifact creatures.

Federation rewards you for having different creature types among your non-Borg creatures.

Meanwhile, Spacecraft and Station bring starships directly into the gameplay, with spacecraft able to become creatures.

There’s also a Face a Dilemma mechanic based around choosing modes on spells and abilities.

And yes, the USS Enterprise is here

Star Trek wouldn’t be Star Trek without its ships.

The set features spacecraft including versions of the USS Enterprise, alongside ships and characters from throughout the franchise.

There are also four Commander decks:

  • Federation Fleet
  • Landing Party
  • Klingon Fury
  • We Are the Borg

For collectors, Wizards is also introducing seven signed headliner cards, with approximately 250 copies of each signed card.

Star Trek release dates

  • Prerelease: November 6-12, 2026
  • MTG Arena: November 10
  • Tabletop: November 13

Release date: November 13, 2026

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm – February 5, 2027

Magic’s first announced set of 2027 takes you somewhere the game hasn’t really explored before: underwater.

Nauctis: The Sunken Realm releases on February 5, 2027. It is a brand-new Magic plane dominated by an endless ocean and massive underwater cities.

You will encounter aquatic creatures including Merfolk, seals, and Homarids, along with humans trying to survive in this strange environment.

But this isn’t just an underwater sightseeing trip. Two kingdoms are locked in conflict, and a group of unlikely heroes must rise up before their home is swallowed by the abyss.

This makes Nauctis particularly interesting because it isn’t a return to an established plane. It’s a completely new world for Magic.

Release date: February 5, 2027

Kamigawa: Titanbreach – June 4, 2027

If you thought Magic’s crossovers were getting crazy, wait until Kamigawa: Titanbreach. The set returns to Kamigawa, but this time the plane has a gigantic problem.

An Omenpath opens above the neon-lit skies of Towashi, allowing a huge mass from Ikoria to crash into Kamigawa.

And with it comes an army of gigantic monsters. It is essentially a collision between two of Magic’s most distinctive planes: futuristic Kamigawa and monster-filled Ikoria.

It is a clash that will allow you to fight alongside Kamigawa’s people using next-generation mechs or embrace the monsters themselves.

So if you liked the cyberpunk aesthetic of Kamigawa: Neon Dynasty but also enjoy the giant monsters of Ikoria, this might be one of the most ridiculous in a good way Magic sets in years.

Release date: June 4, 2027

Zhalfir – October 1, 2027

Magic’s third announced 2027 Multiverse set is Zhalfir, arriving on October 1, 2027.

For longtime Magic players, this is a particularly significant return.

Zhalfir has existed in Magic lore for years, but the kingdom has now re-entered the Multiverse as its own plane.

That allows Wizards to finally explore Zhalfir on a much larger scale.

The set will feature the kingdom’s history, culture, and magical traditions, while Teferi Akosa returns to his homeland.

Zhalfir is a celebration of Magic’s past while incorporating a modern design philosophy.

Release date: October 1, 2027

What About the Other Three 2027 Sets?

This is where things get interesting.

Wizards has confirmed that 2027 will have six Magic releases:

  • Three Magic Multiverse sets
  • Three Universes Beyond sets

The three Multiverse sets have been announced:

  1. Nauctis: The Sunken Realm
  2. Kamigawa: Titanbreach
  3. Zhalfir

However, the three Universes Beyond releases have not been publicly named yet.

For now, they’re simply three announced Universes Beyond sets with details still to come. Wizards says more information will be shared in the future.

Upcoming Magic: The Gathering Sets Final List

As of September 3, 2026, the officially announced unreleased sets are:

  • Reality Fracture – October 2, 2026
  • Magic: The Gathering | Star Trek – November 13, 2026
  • Nauctis: The Sunken Realm – February 5, 2027
  • Kamigawa: Titanbreach – June 4, 2027

  • Universes Beyond Set #2 – 2027, TBA
