Battlefield Studios has unveiled a major overhaul for REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale as part of Battlefield 6 Season 4: Pacific Front.
The upcoming update introduces sweeping changes to progression, matchmaking, ranked scoring, and gameplay balance, to create a more competitive and skill-based experience.
According to the developers, many of these adjustments are based on player feedback and data gathered during the game’s first live Ranked season.
The changes are designed to better reward teamwork, reduce frustration in the early ranks, and ensure that player skill plays a larger role in determining success.
Vehicles Removed from Ranked Battle Royale
One of the biggest gameplay changes is the removal of Vehicle Keycards, Main Battle Tanks (MBTs), and Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFVs) from REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale.
While these vehicles will remain available in the standard Battle Royale mode, Battlefield Studios believes that Ranked matches should focus more heavily on infantry combat and tactical decision-making rather than armored vehicle dominance.
By removing some of the most powerful vehicles, the developers hope to create a more balanced competitive environment where positioning, gunplay, teamwork, and strategy determine the outcome of matches.
Ranked Points System Gets a Complete Rework
The Ranked Points (RP) system has received one of its biggest updates since launch.
Previously, players earned significantly more RP for securing eliminations than for supporting teammates.
Starting with Season 4, Confirmed Assists will now award the same amount of RP as kills, encouraging players to work together instead of chasing individual statistics.
Battlefield Studios has also increased the limit for full RP rewards earned through kills and assists.
The previous cap of four eliminations has now been doubled to eight, so aggressive players can earn more points before diminishing returns begin.
After reaching that limit, RP rewards for additional eliminations will be reduced to 10% of their normal value, compared to the previous reduction of 50%.
This change places greater emphasis on surviving longer and achieving strong match placements rather than simply collecting kills.
Faster Progression for New Players
The early stages of Ranked progression are also becoming much more accessible.
Battlefield Studios found that many players were spending too much time climbing through the Rookie and Bronze divisions, making progression feel slow and discouraging.
To address this, the RP requirements for these lower ranks have been reduced, allowing newer players to reach higher competitive tiers more quickly.
At the same time, higher-ranked players will face increased RP entry costs so top divisions are more competitive, and it ensures that players must consistently perform well to maintain their rank.
Another significant adjustment is the expansion of placement rewards.
Previously, only the top 14 squads received placement RP, but Season 4 increases that number to 22 squads, rewarding more teams for surviving deeper into each match.
Ranked Quality-of-Life Improvements
Season 4 also introduces several quality-of-life improvements to make Ranked play easier to understand and more reliable.
The end-of-match RP summary screen has been redesigned to clearly explain how players gained or lost Ranked Points during a match.
Pre-match information has also been improved, so players can easily view teammate classes and ranks before dropping into a game.
In addition, players will now correctly receive RP for eliminating opponents even if those opponents disconnect before the elimination is officially confirmed, preventing players from losing deserved rewards because of disconnects.
Stricter Quit Penalties Are Coming
Battlefield Studios has also announced that stricter penalties for leaving Ranked matches early will be introduced later during Season 4.
Players who repeatedly quit Ranked matches will receive matchmaking cooldowns, lose any RP earned during that match, and still be charged the standard RP entry cost.
The developers believe these changes will reduce disruptive behavior and create a more competitive experience for players who stay until the end of a match.
The update will also introduce AFK warnings to give inactive players advance notice before they are removed from a match.
This will reduce accidental removals while discouraging players from remaining inactive during competitive games.
Battlefield Studios Wants Ranked to Reward Teamwork
Many of the Season 4 changes share a common goal: rewarding teamwork over individual play.
Equal RP for assists, reduced vehicle influence, expanded placement rewards, and clearer progression systems all encourage players to cooperate with their squad rather than focus solely on personal statistics.
Combined with the broader Season 4 content update, these competitive improvements are one of the largest overhauls REDSEC Ranked Battle Royale has received since Battlefield 6 launched.
