Interestingly, the developers also confirmed that Zohar is only around 50 to 60 percent complete, making this one of the more transparent development updates seen during a major fighting game event.

The character is currently scheduled to launch during Summer 2026, with additional balancing and visual improvements still underway.

The Biggest Reveal of EVO 2026

Arc System Works arguably stole the show this year. Between the reveal of Zohar, the surprise return of BlazBlue DLC, and continued support for multiple fighting games, the publisher had one of the busiest presentations of the weekend.

Marvel Tokon also continued building momentum ahead of release, while classic franchises like Dead or Alive reminded fans they haven’t disappeared entirely.

Rather than focusing on entirely new game announcements, EVO 2026 focused on long-term support for existing communities, something many fighting game players have been asking for.

EVO 2026 once again proved that it’s more than just the world’s biggest fighting game tournament. The event delivered a steady stream of announcements that reinforced the genre’s healthy future, with returning franchises, unexpected DLC, and new gameplay reveals keeping fans excited for the months ahead.

While there weren’t many brand-new franchise reveals, the continued support for established fighting games shows that developers remain committed to expanding their communities well beyond launch.
