Google Pixel 11 Series: Expected Features and Upgrades

The company has already confirmed that the next-generation Google Pixel 11 series will be unveiled on August 12, 2026, with Google’s own store listing the Pixel 11 for pre-order on the same day.

While Google has not officially revealed the complete specifications ahead of the launch, a steady stream of leaks and reports has given us a fairly detailed picture of what to expect.

The Pixel 11 lineup is expected to focus less on a dramatic redesign and more on improvements to performance, efficiency, cameras, connectivity and Google’s growing AI ecosystem.

Here is everything we currently expect from the Google Pixel 11 series.

Google Pixel 11 Launch Event: Date and Time in Different Regions

Google’s Pixel 11 launch event will begin at 10:00 AM on August 12, 2026, in New York, USA, according to the official Google Store.

The event takes place at the same time worldwide, with the local time changing depending on the viewer’s time zone.

Google Pixel 11 Series Expected Models

The Pixel 11 family is expected to follow Google’s current flagship lineup, with a standard Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro and Pixel 11 Pro XL.

Reports have also pointed toward a Pixel 11 Pro Fold as the company’s next-generation foldable flagship.

The standard Pixel 11 is expected to remain the smaller and more affordable option, while the Pro and Pro XL should offer upgraded displays, cameras and additional hardware features.

The Pro Fold would sit at the top of the range as Google’s premium foldable.

Google’s existing Pixel 10 lineup consists of the Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL and Pixel 10 Pro Fold; a similar structure for the Pixel 11 generation is expected.

Tensor G6 Could Be the Biggest Upgrade

The biggest hardware change expected across the Pixel 11 family is Google’s next-generation Tensor G6 processor.

Multiple leaks point toward Tensor G6 being manufactured using TSMC’s 2nm process, moving down from the 3nm process used by Tensor G5 in the Pixel 10.

Google’s Tensor G5 already was a major architectural change, with Google claiming up to a 60% more powerful TPU and an average 34% CPU performance improvement compared with its previous generation.

The move to 2nm could therefore be particularly important for the Pixel 11.

Rather than simply chasing benchmark scores, Google is expected to use the more efficient manufacturing process to improve sustained performance, thermals and battery efficiency.

Leaked specifications suggest a seven-core CPU configuration consisting of one high-performance ARM C1-Ultra core and six C1-Pro cores.

The chip is also expected to feature a new PowerVR GPU and an upgraded TPU designed around Google’s increasingly important on-device AI workloads.

The actual performance advantage will have to wait for independent testing.

A smaller manufacturing process does not automatically guarantee a faster phone, particularly when GPU architecture, cooling and software optimization are taken into account.

MediaTek M90 Modem Could Improve Connectivity

Another potentially major change is hidden inside the Tensor G6.

Leaks suggest Google could move away from the Samsung modem used in previous Tensor-powered Pixel generations and adopt MediaTek’s M90 modem.

This could be an important upgrade for Pixel users because modem efficiency has historically been one of the areas where Google’s flagship phones have faced criticism.

A more efficient modem could reduce cellular power consumption and potentially improve network performance and thermal behavior.

It is still too early to say how much of an improvement we will actually see.

Signal performance depends heavily on carrier networks, regional bands, and software, so real-world testing will be more important than the modem’s specifications alone.

Pixel Glow Could Be the Series’ Most Noticeable New Feature

The Pixel 11 may also introduce a feature that has nothing to do with raw performance: Pixel Glow.

Leaks have described an RGB lighting system integrated around the rear camera bar.

It could act as a notification system, lighting up for calls, messages, or other alerts while the phone is placed face down.

Some reports also say it can be used with Gemini and other assistant-related interactions.

Interestingly, Pixel Glow is reportedly replacing the temperature sensor found on recent Pixel models.

That would make it more than just a decorative addition and could represent a deliberate shift toward a more interactive hardware design.

Google has already teased the Pixel 11 ahead of its August 12 event, but the exact functionality of the lighting system remains something to watch at the official launch.

Cameras Could Get New Sensors

Camera improvements are also expected, although the Pixel 11 generation may not represent a massive megapixel race.

Leaks suggest Google could introduce new camera sensors across the Pixel 11 lineup.

The standard Pixel 11 has reportedly been linked to a new 50MP main camera sensor, while the Pro models are expected to retain Google’s triple-camera approach with wide, ultrawide and telephoto cameras.

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL currently use a 50MP wide camera, 48MP ultrawide and 48MP telephoto setup, with Google’s computational photography doing much of the heavy lifting.

For Pixel 11, Google’s improvements may therefore be less about dramatically increasing resolution and more about sensor quality and image processing.

120x AI Zoom Could Push Google’s Computational Photography Further

One of the more ambitious camera leaks is about zoom.

The Pixel 10 Pro and Pro XL offer Google’s Pro Zoom system with up to 100x zoom.

Google combines optical hardware with computational photography and AI processing to maintain image quality at extreme magnification.

For the Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL, reports suggest Google could increase the maximum AI-assisted zoom to 120x.

That number alone should not be interpreted as meaning the phone will deliver optical-quality images at 120x.

Instead, the feature is expected to rely heavily on Google’s computational photography algorithms to reconstruct detail at extreme zoom levels.

Video Could Receive a Major AI Upgrade

Video processing could become another major focus for the Pixel 11 series.

Leaks have pointed toward features such as improved low-light video processing and 4K Cinematic Blur, potentially allowing Pixel phones to create more sophisticated video effects without relying as heavily on cloud processing.

This would build on the Pixel 10’s AI-powered video features. Google currently uses Video Boost and other computational photography technologies to process footage and improve image quality.

The Tensor G6’s expected improvements in AI processing could allow Google to move more of that processing directly onto the phone, although the exact implementation has not yet been confirmed.

Brighter Displays Are Expected

The Pixel 11 Pro and Pro XL are also expected to receive display upgrades.

Leaks have pointed toward Samsung’s newer M16 OLED panel technology for the Pro models.

The Pixel 11 Pro XL is reportedly expected to reach up to 3,600 nits of peak brightness, compared with around 3,300 nits reported for the Pixel 10 Pro XL.

The display sizes are expected to remain familiar, with the Pixel 11 Pro reportedly retaining a 6.3-inch panel and the Pro XL staying around 6.8 inches.

Battery Life Could Benefit From the New Chip

Battery capacity may not receive a huge increase in the Pixel 11 generation, but the combination of Tensor G6’s 2nm manufacturing process and the rumored MediaTek M90 modem could still result in better endurance.

Leaked information has suggested battery capacities around the 5,000mAh mark for the larger Pro models, while some reports have actually suggested slightly different capacities from the Pixel 10 generation.

If Tensor G6 and the new modem consume less power during everyday tasks and cellular connectivity, Google could potentially improve battery life without increasing battery size.

RAM and Storage Changes

Google could also make a significant change to the storage configuration.

Reports suggest the Pixel 11 lineup could move away from 128GB as the entry-level storage option, with 256GB becoming the starting capacity for some models.

However, RAM configurations are less straightforward. Some leaks have suggested that the Pro models could start at 12GB of RAM instead of the 16GB starting configuration offered by some Pixel 10 Pro models, while higher-capacity variants could continue to offer more RAM.

This is one area where the final Google specifications will be particularly important because leaked configurations have varied.

Android 17 and More Gemini Features

Software and AI could ultimately be more important than the hardware changes.

The Pixel 11 series is expected to launch alongside Google’s latest Android generation and will continue the company’s aggressive integration of Gemini into the Pixel experience.

Google has increasingly positioned Pixel as a showcase for its AI technology, with Pixel 10 introducing features such as Magic Cue, Voice Translate, Gemini Live and Camera Coach.

Google is unlikely to stop there. The Pixel 11’s Tensor G6 could enable more sophisticated on-device AI features, faster image and video processing, and deeper Gemini integration.

Some of the most interesting software features may not leak before launch because Google can introduce them directly during the Made by Google event.

Google’s existing Pixel strategy also suggests long-term software support will remain a major selling point. The company’s current Pixel devices receive seven years of updates and regular Pixel Drops.

Design Expected to Remain Familiar

Don’t expect the Pixel 11 to change Google’s smartphone design.

Leaked renders and reports indicate that the overall design will remain close to the Pixel 10, with Google’s distinctive horizontal camera bar continuing to define the rear of the phone.

The biggest visible addition could be the Pixel Glow lighting system integrated into that camera area.

That would make the Pixel 11 more of an evolution than a redesign.

This approach makes sense for Google, especially after the Pixel 10 already introduced a refined design alongside Pixelsnap magnetic wireless charging.

Expected Pixel 11 Price

Some reports have suggested the standard Pixel 11 could start around $899, an increase over the previous generation, although the higher starting storage could partially explain the increase.

For comparison, the Pixel 10 launched at approximately $960 for the 256GB model, while the Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro XL were priced at roughly $1,325 and $1,505, respectively.

Google Pixel 11 vs Pixel 10: What Could Change?

The Pixel 11 does not appear to be a complete reinvention of the Pixel formula. Instead, Google seems to be targeting several areas that matter more in everyday use.

The biggest changes could include the move from Tensor G5 to Tensor G6, a transition to TSMC’s 2nm process, a MediaTek M90 modem, improved camera sensors, brighter Pro displays, enhanced AI zoom, upgraded video processing, and the unusual Pixel Glow notification system.

At the same time, the basic design, camera philosophy and Pixel software experience are expected to remain familiar.
