Zeraora Makes Its Pokémon GO Debut

The Pokémon GO Fest 2026 headline is the long-awaited debut of Zeraora, the Thunderclap Pokémon.

For the first time in Pokémon GO, every Trainer who logs in during the event weekend can complete a Special Research story that leads to an encounter with the Mythical Electric-type Pokémon.

Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y Debut

Another major feature of GO Fest 2026 is the arrival of Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.

These powerful Mega Evolutions make their Pokémon GO debut in Super Mega Raid Battles, where you can earn the new Mega Energy X and Mega Energy Y needed to Mega Evolve Mewtwo.

Mewtwo caught from these raids will already have at least one Mega Level unlocked, with lucky Trainers having a chance to receive one at Mega Level 2 or even Mega Level 3.

You will also receive a branching Timed Research that lets you choose between Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y.

GO Fest 2026 once again features rotating habitats throughout both event days. Each habitat focuses on a different Pokémon type, bringing unique wild encounters, Field Research tasks, and shiny hunting opportunities.

Special Incense encounters include all forms of Unown, Tropius, and Bouffalant, while Pikachu wearing Team Instinct, Team Mystic, and Team Valor hats also appears during the event.

Field Research refreshes every hour to match the currently active habitat, giving Trainers new challenges and rewards throughout the day.

Special Research and Timed Research

Every Trainer who logs in during GO Fest 2026 receives access to a free Special Research story featuring Zeraora.

In addition, you can participate in a new branching Timed Research that allows you to choose between Mega Mewtwo X and Mega Mewtwo Y, rewarding Mega Energy and other useful items as you progress.
