October 2026 will be one of the busiest months of the year for gaming.
From the return of Gears of War and Star Wars to new entries in Castlevania, Phantom Blade, and Warhammer 40,000, there are so many new games coming in this month.
The month also brings several major remasters, including The Wolf Among Us Remastered and Tales of Eternia Remastered, and Planet Zoo 2. Here are the biggest new games worth watching.
Gears of War: E-Day – October 6

Platforms: Xbox Series X|S, PC, Steam
The biggest release at the start of October is Gears of War: E-Day, which takes the franchise back to the beginning of the Locust invasion.
The game focuses on Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago during Emergence Day; you will experience one of the most important events in Gears history from the ground level.
The Coalition has rebuilt the game using Unreal Engine 5, with the studio promising improved visuals, combat, and destruction.
The campaign supports two-player split-screen and online co-op, while multiplayer and Horde-style experiences return alongside the story.
Gears of War: E-Day launches worldwide on October 6 and is also available through Game Pass. Premium Edition owners and eligible Game Pass players get early access beginning October 1.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer – October 6

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC
Star Wars fans are getting something quite different this month with Star Wars: Galactic Racer.
Instead of another lightsaber-focused action game, this title puts the focus on high-speed racing across the Star Wars universe.
The game features repulsorcraft racing and takes players to locations including Jakku. It offers fast races and multiplayer competition and an interesting alternative to the usual Star Wars formula.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer launches on October 6 for PS5, Xbox Series X|S and PC.
Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] – October 8

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2
October is also a great month for anyone who has wanted to experience the Kingdom Hearts saga on modern consoles.
The Kingdom Hearts Collection [I–III] brings together the major mainline adventures for newcomers in a much easier way to get into the famously complicated Disney and Square Enix crossover series.
The collection is more interesting for Nintendo Switch 2 players, who will be able to experience the main Kingdom Hearts journey on Nintendo’s new hardware.
The collection is scheduled for October 8.
Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival – October 8

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
With Halloween approaching, October is naturally packed with horror games, and Clive Barker’s Hellraiser: Revival is one of the more recognizable names in the lineup.
The game brings the Hellraiser universe into a new interactive experience, putting you up against the franchise’s disturbing creatures and supernatural horrors.
Its October 8 launch makes it one of the first major horror releases of the month and an obvious game to keep on the radar if you are looking for something darker.
Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen – October 9
Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2
Capcom’s Dragon’s Dogma 2: Dark Arisen expands the world of the 2024 action RPG with a new snowy region, new dungeons, and additional customization options.
The expansion introduces the abandoned region of Norgan and adds 12 new dungeon challenges, and also brings quality-of-life improvements to the game.
Nintendo Switch 2 players will also get the base game and expansion on the new console.
Planet Zoo 2 – October 13

Platforms: PC, Xbox Series X|S, PS5
If you’re looking for something less violent after all the horror and action games, Planet Zoo 2 arrives on October 13.
The sequel expands on Frontier’s zoo-management formula where you construct and manage your own wildlife parks.
One new addition is the ability to feature fully aquatic and flying species. The game launches on October 13, with the PC version listed on Steam for $49.99.
Valor Mortis – October 13

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
Developed by One More Level, the team behind Ghostrunner, Valor Mortis pairs fast-paced first-person action with a supernatural version of the Napoleonic Wars.
Its setting alone makes it stand out from the month’s bigger franchise releases. You can expect intense combat, supernatural abilities, and a dark alternate-history world.
Valor Mortis is scheduled to launch on October 13.
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 – October 14

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S
The Warhammer 40,000 universe returns with Boltgun 2, a retro-style first-person shooter that doubles down on old-school FPS action.
You can choose between Ultramarine Malum Caedo and Sister of Battle Nyra Veyrath, with the sequel promising more enemies, more weapons, and new ways to tear through the forces of Chaos.
For fans of classic boomer shooters, this could be one of the month’s sleeper hits. Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2 releases October 14.
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse – October 15

Platforms: PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch
Castlevania: Belmont’s Curse is one of the most exciting releases for fans of classic action-platformers.
The game follows Rose Belmont, the daughter of Trevor Belmont, as she battles Dracula’s forces in 1499 Paris.
It’s an exploration game with 2D action and a new combat system built around weapons, relics, and the Arcana system.
You can defeat bosses and seal their powers into tarot cards, allowing Rose to use their abilities during her journey.
Konami has confirmed an October 15 release date across PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch. A playable demo is already available ahead of launch.
Tales of Eternia Remastered – October 16

Platforms: PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2
Fans of classic JRPGs have another reason to be excited in October with Tales of Eternia Remastered.
Originally released in 2000/2001-era PlayStation hardware, the remaster brings Reid Hershel’s adventure to modern platforms with improved visuals and quality-of-life features.
The story takes you between the two worlds of Inferia and Celestia, as Reid and his companions attempt to prevent a catastrophic collision between the worlds.
Final Fantasy Resonance – October 22

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PC
Another major RPG arrives later in the month with Final Fantasy Resonance.
The game has Final Fantasy design with a modern presentation to its adventure. Its October 22 release places it directly in one of the busiest parts of the month’s schedule.
For RPG fans, this is one of the October releases worth keeping a close eye on.
Phantom Blade Zero – October 29

Platforms: PS5, PC
One of the most anticipated action games of the entire year arrives near the end of October.
Phantom Blade Zero is a dark wuxia action game from S-GAME. You take control of Soul, an assassin who has only 66 days left to live.
The game has Chinese martial arts with fast, technical combat and a dark fantasy setting.
Recent gameplay has showcased its extensive weapon system, different combat setups, side quests, and the wider Wulin world.
The game is also notable for the involvement of martial arts star Donnie Yen.
The Wolf Among Us Remastered – October 29

Platforms: PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch
Telltale’s beloved noir adventure is getting a major visual upgrade with The Wolf Among Us Remastered.
The remaster brings Bigby Wolf back to Fabletown while rebuilding the original game with updated character models, textures, lighting, and presentation.
The story itself remains intact, while additional behind-the-scenes material and a new Noir Mode give returning players some new reasons to revisit it.
For newcomers, this could also be the perfect opportunity to experience one of Telltale’s most popular narrative adventures.
October 2026 Has Something for Everyone
Gears of War: E-Day kicks things off with a major Xbox release, while Star Wars: Galactic Racer offers a completely different take on the Star Wars universe.
