Publisher Dotemu and developer Triskell Interactive have officially unveiled Theos: Cities of Myth, a brand-new city-building strategy game inspired by Greek mythology.
The game was revealed during The MIX Summer Game Showcase and is currently scheduled to launch for PC via Steam in 2026.
Combining classic city-building mechanics with divine intervention, Theos: Cities of Myth puts you in charge of developing a thriving Greek polis.
You also need to balance the demands of both citizens and the gods who rule over them. The game is being developed by the same studio behind Pharaoh: A New Era, making it one of the most anticipated city builders for strategy fans.
Build a Polis Under the Watch of the Gods
In Theos: Cities of Myth, you establish and expand cities dedicated to one of seven Greek deities. Each god offers unique blessings, challenges, and gameplay opportunities that influence how a settlement grows and functions.
Athena, Zeus, Ares, Poseidon, Hera, Hermes, or Dionysus, whichever choice you make, can shape the future of a city.
As rulers, you must manage housing, food production, trade, entertainment, culture, and infrastructure while ensuring their chosen deity remains satisfied.
Neglecting divine demands may result in punishment, while earning favor can unlock powerful benefits and attract legendary heroes and historical figures.
Classic City Building with Modern Features
While Theos draws heavy inspiration from classic city-building games, it also introduces several modern mechanics.
You can establish colonies, build trade networks, form alliances with neighboring city-states, and even engage in military campaigns through real-time battles.
The game features detailed economic systems, resource management, production chains, and urban planning elements. Markets, schools, theaters, temples, and storage facilities all play important roles in maintaining a prosperous city.
According to early previews, you will also need to deal with disasters and civic issues such as fires, crime, and structural decay, adding another layer of challenge to city management.
Inspired by Ancient Greece and Its Legends
One of the game’s biggest attractions is its mythology-driven progression system. As cities expand and gain favor with their patron deity, famous heroes, philosophers, and legendary figures can be drawn to your settlement.
These characters may provide unique bonuses and opportunities that further strengthen the city.
The game’s hand-drawn isometric art style also pays homage to Ancient Greece in a vibrant and detailed way.
Release Window
Theos: Cities of Myth is currently planned for release on PC via Steam in 2026. No console versions have been announced at this time. The exact date isn’t confirmed yet either.
With its city-building gameplay, Greek mythology, divine blessings, diplomacy, warfare, and deep management systems, Theos: Cities of Myth seems an intriguing strategy game in 2026.
For fans of classics like Pharaoh, Caesar, and Zeus: Master of Olympus, this spiritual successor could be worth keeping a close eye on.
