Alright, let’s talk Steam Sales. You know that magical time of year when your wallet cries, your backlog grows, and you convince yourself you need that indie game you’ll never actually play? Yeah, it’s that time.
There are a few major Steam Sales every year; Summer Sale (June-July) and Winter Sale (December-January) are the big ones, with massive discounts on basically everything.

The next big Steam sale is right around the corner, and you don’t wanna miss out on those sweet discounts,
so we have put together a list of all the upcoming Steam sale dates. So, you can hunt down indie gems, AAA hits, or just something new to sink hours into; this guide will help you plan.

Steam Sale Tips and Tricks
Steam Sales are like a gamer’s Black Friday, but way more dangerous. You go in for one game, come out with 20, and still somehow only play the same three. Let’s make sure you don’t completely wreck your bank account.
1. Wishlist Everything
If you even remotely want a game, add it to your wishlist. Steam will send you notifications when it goes on sale, so you don’t have to manually check a million times.
2. Compare Prices
Just because a game is on sale doesn’t mean it’s the best deal. Check other game stores to see if it has a better discount.
3. Don’t Fall for Fake Discounts
Steam sometimes pulls that “Was $60, now $30!” move, even though the game was $30 last month. Check price history to see if it’s actually a good deal.
4. Prioritize Must-Play Games
If your backlog is already filled with entertaining games, don’t just buy because something’s cheap. Ask yourself: Am I actually playing this soon, or is it just gonna rot in my library?
5. Bundles & Freebies Are Your Friends
- Humble Bundle, Fanatical, and IndieGala often have bundles that make Steam deals look weak.
- Epic Games Store sometimes gives away free games that are on sale on Steam, so check there before you buy!
6. Wait for the “Final Discount” on Newer Games
If a game just released this year, it probably won’t hit its lowest price during this sale. If you can wait, Black Friday/Winter Sale/Summer Sale will usually bring even bigger cuts.
7. Refunds Exist, Use Them Wisely
Steam lets you refund a game if you’ve played less than 2 hours and owned it for less than 14 days. If you impulse-buy and regret it, just return it.
8. Don’t Sleep on Indie Games
AAA games get the spotlight, but indie games often hit 80-90% off and give way more bang for your buck. Stuff like Hollow Knight, Hades, Celeste, and Stardew Valley are must-haves.
9. Keep an Eye on the Next Sale
If you miss a deal, don’t panic; Steam Sales are constant. The next one is never that far away.
That’s it for our guide on the Steam Sale. We hope it will help you get a better discount on your favorite game.
