Rayman Legends Retold Announced: Ubisoft Brings Back a Platforming Classic With a Stunning New Look

After years of speculation and fan requests, Ubisoft has officially announced Rayman Legends Retold, a reimagining of the beloved 2013 platformer that defined the genre.

The reveal came during the June 2026 PlayStation State of Play showcase, marking the long-awaited return of one of gaming’s most iconic mascots.

A New Era for Rayman

Rayman Legends Retold is not simply a remaster. Ubisoft is rebuilding the classic adventure with a complete visual overhaul, transforming the original’s hand-drawn 2D presentation into a modern 3D art style while preserving the side-scrolling gameplay that made the original so beloved.

According to Ubisoft, the new visuals are designed to make environments feel more immersive, featuring dynamic camera work, enhanced cutscenes, and richly detailed worlds that bring Rayman’s universe to life in ways that were not possible in 2013.

New Content Beyond the Original Game

One of the biggest surprises is that Rayman Legends Retold will feature entirely new gameplay content alongside the classic levels.

The reveal trailer showcased new 3D gameplay sequences, including dragon-riding sections that appear to take inspiration from classic rail shooters.

These segments are completely new additions and aim to expand the experience beyond a straightforward remake.

Ubisoft has also confirmed new story elements, expanded cinematics, and full voice acting for major characters. Longtime Rayman voice actor David Gasman is returning to reprise his role as the limbless hero.

Release Date and Platforms

Rayman Legends Retold is scheduled to launch on October 1, 2026. The game has been confirmed for PlayStation 5, while reports and previews indicate releases are also planned for Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC.

The game is expected to retail for $39.99, making it a relatively affordable release compared to most modern AAA titles.

Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition Included

Another major bonus for fans is the inclusion of Rayman Origins Enhanced Edition. Early reports suggest that if you purchase Rayman Legends Retold, you will also receive an upgraded version of the 2011 classic platformer, featuring modern enhancements and quality-of-life improvements.

If confirmed across all platforms, this package would effectively give you two of the franchise’s most celebrated entries in a single bundle.

Why Ubisoft Chose Rayman Legends

Many fans expected Ubisoft to revisit the original 1995 Rayman, but the development team explained that Legends was chosen because it represents the richest and most complete version of the franchise, featuring fan-favorite characters such as Globox, Murfy, and Barbara.

The original Rayman Legends remains one of the highest-rated platformers ever released, and became popular for its level design, music stages, cooperative gameplay, and artistic direction.

Rayman Legends Retold is much more than a nostalgia project. With rebuilt visuals, brand-new gameplay sequences, expanded storytelling, and additional content, Ubisoft appears to be giving one of its most beloved franchises a meaningful revival.

For longtime fans, it’s a chance to revisit one of the greatest platformers ever made. For newcomers, it may be the perfect opportunity to discover why Rayman Legends remains a benchmark for the genre more than a decade after its original release.
