Sableye’s Gem Hunt in Pokémon Pokopia is a limited-time event that introduces a different kind of gameplay compared to regular Pokémon encounters.
This guide explains how the event works, how to progress efficiently, and what you should prioritize before it ends.
Event Duration and Basic Idea
The event typically runs for around two weeks. During this time, you can collect a special currency called Red Crystal Fragments and exchange them for items through Sableye’s event shop.
Sableye cannot be caught during the event. Instead, you must complete specific requirements to invite it to your island after the event concludes.

- Start: April 29, 2026, at 5:00 AM
- End: May 14, 2026, at 4:59 AM
How to Start the Sableye Event
To begin the event, you need access to a rebuilt Pokémon Center in your town.
Once you visit the area, you will notice Sableye standing outside. Interacting with it triggers the event automatically.
After this interaction, Sableye moves inside and becomes available as a shopkeeper where you can exchange event currency for rewards.
How to Get Red Crystal Fragments
Red Crystal Fragments are the main currency of the event, and they can only be obtained in one way: by exploring caves on Dream Islands.
Each time you visit a Dream Island, you should look for cave entrances. Inside these caves, you will find red crystal clusters. These can be broken using Rock Smash, rewarding you with fragments.
Deeper sections of caves tend to contain more crystals, which makes them more efficient for farming. Because of this, it is generally better to fully explore a single cave rather than moving between multiple shallow ones.
Event Shop
After collecting fragments, you can return to the Pokémon Center and exchange them in Sableye’s shop.
The shop includes a variety of items such as Adventure Kit, Map & Compass, Treasure, Decorative, and utility items
All items can be purchased multiple times, so you are not limited to a single copy. However, some items are more important than others, especially those required for progression.
Building Sableye’s Habitat
The main objective of the event is to build a habitat that allows Sableye to join your island permanently.
To do this, you must purchase and place specific items:
- Adventure Kit
- Map & Compass
- Treasure
These items must be placed correctly within your island layout. Once the setup is complete, Sableye will not appear immediately. Instead, it becomes available only after the event ends.
This delayed unlock is why many players are confused, since they expect an instant reward.
Best Strategy to Progress Faster
To make the most of the event, focus on consistency and efficiency.
Start by prioritizing the required habitat items instead of cosmetic or optional purchases. Unlocking Sableye should always come first.
When farming fragments, choose Dream Islands that contain more caves, and try to explore caves thoroughly instead of leaving early. This increases the number of fragments you can collect per run.
Important Things to Keep in Mind
Red Crystal Fragments are temporary and will disappear once the event ends. It is important to spend them before the deadline.
Sableye is currently exclusive to this event, so missing it may mean waiting for a future rerun.
Also, the event is designed around gradual progress. Trying to rush everything in a single session is less effective than playing consistently over several days.
