NBA 2K25 Is Being Delisted Later This Month

NBA 2K25 is nearing the end of its run, with 2K confirming that the basketball game will be removed from digital storefronts later this month before its online services are permanently shut down at the end of the year.

2K has confirmed that NBA 2K25 will be delisted from digital storefronts on October 30, 2026, meaning you will no longer be able to purchase the game digitally after that date.

The game originally launched on September 6, 2024. Its digital availability is roughly two years long.

NBA 2K25 Will Be Delisted on October 30

The delisting is the first major step in NBA 2K25’s retirement. Starting October 30, the game will no longer be available to purchase through digital storefronts.

However, if you already own NBA 2K25, you will not immediately lose access to the game. According to 2K, existing owners will still be able to redownload the game and play its offline modes after the delisting date.

This means the October 30 date is important if you have been considering buying the game digitally but have not done so yet.

NBA 2K25 Servers Shut Down on December 31

The bigger change is coming at the end of the year. NBA 2K25’s online services will be discontinued on December 31, 2026.

Starting January 1, 2027, you will no longer be able to access multiplayer games or any of the game’s online modes. This includes MyCAREER and MyTEAM, two of the most prominent modes in NBA 2K25.

You will also no longer be able to earn Virtual Currency (VC) once the servers go offline.

Because several progression systems are tied to 2K’s online infrastructure and VC economy, the impact extends beyond traditional multiplayer.

MyCAREER Will Also Become Unplayable

One of the more notable aspects of the shutdown is that MyCAREER will no longer be available, despite being primarily experienced as a single-player mode.

The mode relies on 2K’s online infrastructure and Virtual Currency systems, so you won’t be able to continue your NBA career once the required servers are shut down.

MyTEAM will also disappear, as the mode depends heavily on online services and its live card-collection ecosystem.

Which NBA 2K25 Modes Will Still Work?

Not everything disappears when the servers close.

You will still be able to access several offline-focused modes, including Play Now, MyNBA, The W, and MyWNBA. However, any functionality within these modes that requires a connection to 2K’s servers will no longer work.

That also means features such as online multiplayer, Online Leagues, and community sharing will be unavailable after the shutdown.

NBA 2K25 Is Following the Series’ Annual Sunset Cycle

The retirement of NBA 2K25 is not particularly unusual for the series. 2K has historically retired online services for older NBA 2K games as players move toward newer entries.

2K’s current service-status information lists NBA 2K26’s online services through December 31, 2027, while NBA 2K27’s services are scheduled through December 31, 2028.

With NBA 2K27 now serving as the current entry in the franchise, NBA 2K25 is effectively reaching the end of its supported lifecycle.

What NBA 2K25 Players Need to Know

If you already own NBA 2K25, you don’t need to do anything before October 30 to keep access to the offline portions of the game. You will still be able to redownload it after the digital delisting.

However, anyone who wants to experience MyCAREER, MyTEAM or NBA 2K25’s other online features has only until December 31, 2026 to do so.

After that date, NBA 2K25 will remain playable in its supported offline modes, but much of the game’s online-focused content will effectively be gone for good.

For players who have been putting off picking up NBA 2K25, the October 30 delisting is the key date to remember.
