Rise of Cultures is a really fun city-building strategy game that takes you through the different ages of history. While games like Rise of Kingdoms and Clash of Clans focus heavily on PvP, Rise of Cultures focuses more on PvE elements. So, you can enjoy this game without having to pay or engage in cutthroat competition with other players.
Now, if you are new to the game, we have carefully created this guide, which will help you to quickly progress in the game and help you to avoid making beginner’s mistakes. Let’s get started.
Build and upgrade Homes and Farms
There are two main resources in the Rise of Cultures: gold coins and food. You can build Homes to get gold coins and farms to gather food.
As you progress through the game more homes and farms will be available to build. You will also be able to upgrade them to obtain even more resources from them.
These two buildings should be your first priority; build and upgrade them as soon as they become available. It will help you accumulate resources faster, which you can use to do all sorts of tasks in the game.
Culture sites

After Homes and Farms, culture sites are your next priority. Cultural sites improve the Happiness of nearby buildings.
Happiness provides a boost to the buildings. With the happiness bonus farm produces more food, homes give more gold coins, military buildings train troops faster, and so on.
You can get up to 2x boost with the Culture site. So, whenever a new culture site becomes available, build it and upgrade it to the max level.
Just building them isn’t enough, you also need to place them strategically so, it can cover the maximum nearby buildings.
Expansion slots

As mentioned before positioning of the building is very important in Rise of Cultures. However, that’s not only an important thing; you also need enough space in your settlement to build new buildings.
To get more space in your settlement, you will need expansion slots. These expansion slots can be unlocked by doing PvE battles on the world map. So, head over to the world map frequently and finish off available battles.
Battles
To unlock expansion slots, you will need to battle on the world map. There are two main important things you need to keep in mind while battling.
Troop position
During the battle, troop position is very important. You first need to analyze the enemy troops’ positions and set up your troops accordingly.
While troop positioning will be different in each battle, there are some constant positions.
First up, your infantry will always be in the front line to take the heavy damage. Secondly, Archers will be in the back, protected by infantry. So they can attack the enemy from a safe distance. Lastly, you need to position your cavalry in such a way that they can flank enemy archers.
Commander Abilities
Aside from troop positions, another important thing is the Commander’s combat abilities. Different commanders have different combat abilities, which you can use during the battle.
These abilities have different effects and certain cool-down periods. For example, at the beginning of the game, you get Harald as commander, whose “Boulder Smash“ skill throws rocks at enemies and damages them.
You will unlock more such skills as you progress through the game and unlock new commanders. Be sure to use these frequently to tip the battle in your favor.
Quests
One of the best things about the Rise of Cultures is not too complicated a gameplay experience. If you are unsure about what to do next in the game, then just look at the quest board.
Simply finish up the quests, and you will keep on progressing in the game without even knowing.
That’s all the tips we had on the Rise of Cultures progression. We hope that this helps you with the gameplay. Do let us know if you missed anything.
