Phantom Blade Zero features four hidden Serpent Houses scattered across different regions.
Finding all four is important because they contain valuable upgrade materials, weapons, and three special quest items required to unlock the path to Mirage Estate.
Some of these locations are easy to miss, especially because certain entrances are blocked by thorny vines that require a special ability to clear.
Here’s where to find every Serpent House, how to access them, and what rewards you can collect.

1. Green Serpent House – Pangzhen
The Green Serpent House is the easiest of the four locations to find because it is part of the main story progression in Pangzhen.
While exploring the western side of the town, you will encounter an apprentice healer named Xie Xaorong.
Speaking to him unlocks the medicine upgrade function at Bells, which improves your healing items using the required materials.
You will also come across an ornate door decorated with a serpent design. However, it cannot be opened immediately because it requires three special items: the Serpent Tongue, Serpent Fang, and White Serpent Eye.
Rewards:
- Green Serpent Brew (Medicine)
- Serpent Gall: Green (Fragment)
Make sure you remember this location, as you will need to return here after collecting the three missing serpent items.
2. Red Serpent House – Crimson Forest
The Red Serpent House is located in the Crimson Forest, directly north of the Thieves’ Camp.
Although you can discover its location relatively early in the campaign, entering it requires a special ability called Flaming Mane.
To obtain Flaming Mane, you must defeat the Lion Dance Grandmaster boss in northwest Pangzhen.
This ability allows you to burn through the thorny vines blocking the entrance.
Once you have acquired it, return to the Crimson Forest and clear the brambles surrounding the Red Serpent House. Enter the building and collect the items inside.
Rewards:
- Red Serpent Tongue (Quest Item)
- Loong Emblem: Yin (Quest Item)
- Serpent Rattle: Red (Fragment)
The Red Serpent Tongue is one of the three items required to unlock the Serpent Door in Pangzhen.
3. Black Serpent House – Village of Lu
The third location is the Black Serpent House in the Village of Lu.
Similar to the Red Serpent House, its entrance is blocked by obstacles that require Flaming Mane to clear.
If you have already defeated the Lion Dance Grandmaster and obtained this ability, return to the Village of Lu and look for the blocked entrance.
Use Flaming Mane to burn through the obstruction and enter the house.
Make sure you explore the interior properly, as this location contains several useful items.

- Serpent Venom Sac: Black (Fragment)
- Reinforced Bowstring (Soul Temper Material for Feather Bow)
The Black Serpent Fang is another essential quest item needed to unlock the Serpent Door.
4. White Serpent House – Meigu Lake
The White Serpent House is located on an island in the eastern section of Meigu Lake.
Unlike the previous two locations, reaching this house requires some additional preparation.
First, you need to collect the Loong Emblems from the Red and Black Serpent Houses. These are required to unlock the main area of the White Serpent House.
You will also need to progress through the Sha-Chi Powered Boat quest to access Meigu Lake.
Once you reach the lake, board the powered boat and travel towards the eastern island.
There are several islands along the route, so make sure you activate their Bells whenever possible.
This will make travelling back to these locations much easier.
Once you reach the correct island, defeat the enemies guarding the area. You will eventually encounter Heartpiercer, Elite Shadow Warden.
Defeat this enemy and explore the White Serpent House to collect the remaining items.

- Sha-Chi Amber Fragment (Upgrade Material)
- Serpent Slough: White (Fragment)
- Sundering Dual Axes (Dropped by Heartpiercer)
- White Serpent Eye (Quest Item)

The White Serpent Eye is the final item required to open the Serpent Door in Pangzhen.
How to Open the Serpent Door and Enter Mirage Estate
After visiting all four Serpent Houses, you should have collected three important quest items: the Red Serpent Tongue, Black Serpent Fang, and White Serpent Eye.
Return to the Green Serpent House in Pangzhen and interact with the ornate serpent door.
Insert all three items to unlock the hidden passageway leading to Mirage Estate.
However, there is something important you should know before proceeding. Point of no return
Entering Mirage Estate triggers a major progression point in the campaign.
The game warns you about unfinished business before allowing you to continue.
Proceeding may cause certain unfinished quests to fail, potentially preventing you from collecting their rewards.
Therefore, take some time to explore the remaining regions, complete important side quests, and collect any missing upgrades before entering Mirage Estate.
How to Complete Serpent’s Memory in Phantom Blade Zero
Apart from unlocking Mirage Estate, visiting all four Serpent Houses also rewards you with fragments required to complete Serpent’s Memory.
You need to collect the following four fragments

Once you have collected all four fragments, they automatically combine to create Serpent’s Memory.
This is a Soul Temper material for the White Serpent and Crimson Viper weapons.
The resulting Hundred-Knot Serpents effect allows additional serpents to appear when recalling Crimson Viper using Block and Heavy Attack together.
The number of serpents increases the longer Crimson Viper remains away from Soul.
This makes exploring all four Serpent Houses worthwhile if you plan to use Crimson Viper regularly.
Final Tip: Do not rush towards Mirage Estate as soon as you collect the three quest items. The Serpent Houses contain several useful upgrades and materials, and completing their exploration beforehand will help you avoid missing important content.
