Cold Iron Studios is bringing the bug hunt back with Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, and this time the Xenomorph threat looks bigger, deadlier, and way more unpredictable.
The upcoming co-op shooter is expanding beyond the enemy lineup seen in the original game, introducing fresh alien variants alongside returning nightmares that longtime Alien fans will instantly recognize.
From explosive runner-types to support creatures that can summon entire swarms, the sequel is clearly aiming to make every encounter feel more chaotic than before.
Based on trailers, developer previews, and early information released so far, here are all the Xenomorphs and hostile alien creatures confirmed for Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2.
Drone

The classic Drone is returning in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, and honestly, it wouldn’t feel like an Alien game without it. This fast-moving hunter remains one of the most dangerous standard enemies in the series.
Drones are known for rushing players at high speed, climbing walls and ceilings, and attacking from unexpected angles.
In the original game, they were already capable of overwhelming squads that lost positioning for even a few seconds, and the sequel appears to be pushing that pressure even further.
The updated visuals also make them look significantly more aggressive, with sharper animations and more detailed biomechanical designs.
Crusher
The Crusher is also making a comeback, and it still looks like the tank of the Xenomorph army.
Massive, armored, and absurdly aggressive, Crushers are built to break through defensive positions. These creatures charge directly into Marine formations, forcing teams to scatter before they get flattened.
In Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2, the Crusher seems faster and more relentless than before. The new gameplay footage shows its attacks create even more chaos in tight corridors, especially when mixed with swarming runners and other support enemies.
If your squad doesn’t focus fire quickly, a Crusher can destroy a defensive setup within seconds.
Exploder

One of the newest Xenomorph variants introduced so far is the Exploder.
This horrifying creature appears to be an evolved version of the Burster enemy from the first game. Covered in unstable pustules, the Exploder rushes toward players before detonating at close range.
The biggest danger isn’t just the explosion itself. Exploders are designed to force movement and panic. If your team is holding a hallway or defensive choke point, a single Exploder can instantly break formation and leave everyone vulnerable to the rest of the swarm.
Interestingly, the developers also hinted that skilled players can use Exploders against enemy groups by triggering explosions near other Xenomorphs.
Siren

The Siren may end up being one of the most annoying enemies in the entire game.
Unlike aggressive frontline Xenomorphs, the Siren functions more like a living alarm system. Its direct damage output appears relatively low, but the real threat comes from its ability to summon reinforcements.
Once active, the Siren can call additional enemies into combat, turning manageable fights into complete chaos within moments.
Early details suggest the creature frequently summons Bursters and other swarm enemies, meaning squads will need to eliminate Sirens quickly before the battlefield becomes unmanageable.
It adds a more tactical layer to encounters because you won’t always be able to focus on the biggest enemy first anymore.
Bursters
Bursters are expected to return as part of the standard enemy roster.
These smaller, unstable Xenomorphs were already infamous in the original game for rushing players and exploding in acid-filled blasts. Their unpredictability made them dangerous during crowded fights, especially in narrow spaces.
With the introduction of the Siren and Exploder variants, it looks like Fireteam Elite 2 is leaning even harder into swarm pressure and battlefield disruption.
Bursters may not be the strongest enemies individually, but they become terrifying when combined with larger elite creatures.
Runner Variants
The reveal trailer and preview material strongly suggest multiple Runner-type Xenomorphs are returning.
Runners are usually the most common enemies you encounter during missions. They rely on speed, numbers, and relentless aggression rather than durability.
However, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 appears to be expanding their behavior patterns. Some variants seem more agile, while others appear mutated or evolved through the Pathogen infection introduced in the previous game’s DLC.
Cold Iron Studios has repeatedly mentioned a “massive variety” of new Xenomorphs, so there’s a good chance several Runner subtypes haven’t been fully revealed yet.
Pathogen Mutations
The Pathogen storyline from the first game is clearly continuing in the sequel.
That means you won’t just be fighting traditional Xenomorphs anymore. Mutated creatures infected or transformed by the mysterious Pathogen substance are also returning.
While not every variant has been officially detailed yet, promotional material already teases grotesque mutated enemies inspired by Alien: Covenant-style body horror.
These Pathogen creatures could become some of the most unpredictable enemies in the game because they don’t necessarily follow standard Xenomorph behavior patterns.
Harbinger

One of the strangest creatures revealed so far is the Harbinger.
The enemy appears heavily mutated and visually distinct from standard Xenomorph designs. Early impressions suggest the Harbinger may be connected to the Pathogen corruption seen in previous Alien lore.
Its appearance has already sparked discussion among fans because of its unusual design, which looks closer to a hybrid biological horror creature than a traditional Xenomorph.
Cold Iron Studios hasn’t revealed full gameplay details for the Harbinger yet, but it looks like it could become one of the sequel’s major elite enemies.
Synthetic and Weyland-Yutani Threats

Not every enemy in Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 is technically a Xenomorph.
The sequel will also feature hostile synthetics and Weyland-Yutani combat units, continuing one of the franchise’s classic themes: humans somehow making everything even worse.
The Bulwark synthetic has already been teased as a heavily armored android enemy designed to pressure squads during combat.
This means you may end up fighting both Xenomorph swarms and armed synthetic forces in the same mission, creating much more chaotic encounters than the original game.
More Xenomorphs Are Still Coming
So far, Cold Iron Studios has only revealed a portion of the game’s enemy roster.
The developers have repeatedly emphasized that Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 will feature a much larger variety of Xenomorphs compared to the first game.
Several creatures shown briefly in trailers still haven’t been officially identified, and there’s a strong possibility that hidden enemy types are being saved for launch.
Considering the Alien franchise’s history, fans are already speculating about the possible return of Praetorians, Queens, Stalkers, and even entirely new Pathogen hybrids.
Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 Looks Much More Dangerous Than The Original
The first Aliens: Fireteam Elite already delivered intense co-op action, but the sequel looks far more focused on overwhelming players through enemy variety and battlefield pressure.
Instead of simply throwing larger waves at you, Aliens: Fireteam Elite 2 appears designed around enemy synergy. Exploders force movement, Sirens summon reinforcements, Crushers destroy defensive positions, and swarming runners keep you under constant pressure.
That combination could make every mission significantly more dynamic and unpredictable.
More Xenomorph types are expected to be revealed closer to launch, so the nightmare fuel is probably just getting started.
