Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4, titled Override, is now live, bringing a new generation of Sprites to the Battle Royale island.
Sprites return with a collection of new abilities, several familiar gaming-inspired characters, new variants, and a few quality-of-life improvements that make collecting and managing them easier.
The Season 4 Sprite lineup includes 11 new Sprites at launch, with additional community-created Sprites planned for later updates.
Epic Games has also introduced the new Cheat Master variant alongside the returning Gold variant.
What Are Sprites in Fortnite?
Sprites are collectible companions that provide passive abilities while they are active. Their powers can improve movement, healing, weapons, mobility, loot, and other aspects of gameplay.
Most Sprites can also be leveled up, with their effects becoming stronger as they gain levels.
This makes choosing the right Sprite important depending on your playstyle and the situation you find yourself in during a match.
Chapter 7 Season 4 also changes how you discover Sprites. Alongside traditional methods, Fortnite introduces Cheat Code Injectors to find codes around the island and use them to summon Sprites.
All Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4 Sprites and Abilities
8-Bit Sprite
The 8-Bit Sprite is designed around Fortnite’s gaming-focused theme. It guarantees an 8-Bit Shotgun in your first Chest and provides a score multiplier for the weapon.
This is useful for players who want to secure a strong shotgun early in a match.
Adventure Sprite
The Adventure Sprite focuses on upgrading your equipment. Each time it levels up, it upgrades a random item in your inventory.
Because the upgrade is random, the Sprite can be useful throughout a match when you are looking to improve your overall loadout without manually searching for better versions of your equipment.
Bush Sprite
The Bush Sprite periodically spawns a Bush around your character after a certain amount of time. The interval between activations becomes shorter as the Sprite levels up.
At maximum level, the Bush Sprite can also grant a Bush when you eliminate an opponent, which gives additional value during longer fights.
Crown Sprite
The Crown Sprite is for players chasing Victory Royales. It grants additional Crown Wins after you win a match.
Unlike most Sprites, the Crown Sprite can only be leveled up by winning matches.
Jackrabbit Sprite
The Jackrabbit Sprite provides a major movement advantage by giving you the ability to perform another jump while already in the air.
Its cooldown becomes shorter as the Sprite levels up, so the additional jump can be used more frequently.
Jonesy Sprite
The Jonesy Sprite provides additional survivability by restoring some Health or Shield after you take damage.
The amount restored increases as the Sprite levels up; it’s useful for players who frequently find themselves taking chip damage during fights.
Killswitch Sprite
The Killswitch Sprite gives you access to Hangtime with improved accuracy while aiming during jumps and falls.
Its accuracy improves with each level. It’s useful for aggressive players who like taking aerial shots or using vertical movement during combat.
Klombo Sprite
The Klombo Sprite brings back one of Fortnite’s most recognizable creatures in Sprite form.
It grants random items whenever it levels up. The quality of those items improves at higher levels. However, leveling up Klombo requires using consumable items that restore Health or Shield.
Shadow Sprite
The Shadow Sprite is focused on weapon management. It automatically reloads weapons over time, even when they are not equipped.
At maximum level, it can also reload the weapon you currently have equipped.
The automatic reload becomes faster as the Sprite levels up. This is useful during 1v1 fights to switch between multiple weapons for a finisher.
Sonic Sprite
The Sonic Sprite is one of the headline additions for Chapter 7 Season 4. It provides the “Gotta Go Fast!” ability, allowing you to sprint faster.
The sprinting speed increases further as Sonic levels up. It is one of the strongest options for players who prioritize movement and aggressive rotations.
Tails Sprite
The Tails Sprite gives you the ability to hover in the air with Tails’ help.
Hover speed increases with each level, and it’s useful for repositioning, avoiding incoming attacks, and navigating the island. Tails is also featured separately as a Sidekick in the Season 4 Battle Pass.
New Sprite Variants
Chapter 7 Season 4 also introduces new Sprite variants. The two variants currently associated with the season are Gold and Cheat Master.
The Gold Sprite returns from the previous generation and provides a 3x bonus XP from eliminations.
The Cheat Master Sprite is a new variant designed around Season 4’s hacking and gaming theme. Its ability makes all inputs correct when entering cheat codes found in the world.
Not every variant is necessarily available immediately, however. Epic has indicated that additional Sprite content can be introduced throughout the season.
How to Get Sprites in Fortnite Chapter 7 Season 4
Sprites can be obtained through several methods in Season 4. You can encounter them through the season’s Sprite systems, while Cheat Code Injectors provide a new way to obtain them.
Cheat Code Injectors can be found around the island, particularly around major POIs. You interact with them and follow the directional inputs shown on screen.
Successfully entering the sequence summons a Sprite, although the Sprite obtained can be random and some Sprites are tied to rarer codes.
You can also obtain Sprites by eliminating another player who currently has one and then claiming it for yourself.
Some special variants are obtained through specific codes. For example, Cheat Master Sonic and Cheat Master Tails can be obtained through lobby cheat codes rather than normal in-match collection.
Sprite Collection Gets Quality-of-Life Improvements
Epic has made collecting Sprites less cumbersome in Chapter 7 Season 4.
You can now see during a match whether you have already collected a particular Sprite.
The Sprite’s name also appears when you get close to it, making it easier to identify exactly what you have discovered.
Epic has also reduced the Sprite Dust cost for summoning Rare Sprites and variants and shortened the button-hold time required to summon a Sprite.
These changes make the entire collection system faster and more convenient.
Five More Community Sprites Are Coming
The launch lineup isn’t the end of the Season 4 Sprite collection.
Epic previously announced five winners from its Design-a-Sprite contest.
The winning designs are Bullet Sprite, Dumpster Dive Sprite, Honey Sprite, Pond Sprite, and X-Ray Sprite, with the community-created additions scheduled to arrive during the season rather than at launch.
Their abilities have also been revealed, giving players even more reasons to keep collecting as the season progresses.
Bullet provides additional ammunition from Ammo Boxes, and Dumpster Dive allows you to gather loot from dumpsters.
Honey sends a bee swarm toward an enemy who damages you, Pond improves water movement and eventually jump height and fall-damage resistance, while X-Ray temporarily reveals players through walls and other objects.
What Happened to the Previous Season’s Sprites?
Your Season 3 Sprites are not simply disappearing. Epic confirmed that previously collected Sprites will live on through the new Sprite Garden, while remaining part of your overall collection.
Season 3 Sprites can also contribute to unlocks for the Sprite Mastery Pod Back Bling and Guardian Outfit. Epic has further indicated that older generations of Sprites may return to Battle Royale in the future.
